BAYANI BORJA ELMA, MD

         An honor student all his scholastic life, Dr. Bayani Borja Elma started practicing general internal medicine in Baltimore in 1973, the year he completed his residency at the University of Maryland and Maryland General Hospitals. A native of the Philippines, Dr. Elma earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of the East - Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center in Manila.
        A former board member and vice chief of staff of the Maryland General Hospital, Dr. Elma is a Diplomate of the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians, Inc. He is quite active in many medical organizations including the Medical-Chirurgical Faculty of Maryland, the state medical society, and Baltimore City Medical Society. Going beyond medical circles, he serves as a member of the Maryland Governor’s Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs and participates in a long list of community, civic and professional organizations. He writes and edits for a number of editorial boards and has published in several publications including the The Baltimore Sun. In recognition of his service to the community Dr. Elma has received many awards and citations. His biography has appeared in the Marquis Who’s Who in the World Millennium Edition, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare (1999-2000),Who’s Who in America, 54th Edition,and the International Biographical Centre,Cambridge , UK.
